Scarring

Acne can leave scars, as can chicken pox, trauma, damage and surgical interventions. With time the scars tighten, pull on the skin and can distract from the beauty of the face.

Understanding Scarring

Shallow scars are easier to treat than so-called ice-pick scars; scars that are tethered to the base of the skin by fibrous adhesions. Any treatment for scars can take time but the good news is that once the skin is healed, it is healed and the scars do not return.

Treatments for scars include:

  • Shallow scars respond well to microneedling, RF microneedling, filler injections, PRP, Plenhyage and peeling.
  • Ice-pick scars may need a stronger intervention such as needle subcision.
